No. The Riffle works fully without an account — conditions, fly recommendations, the trip planner, and your logbook all work right away. Creating a free account is optional and only syncs your logbook across devices.
In the app, open the account area at the top of the screen and tap "Delete account & data." After a confirmation step, this permanently deletes your account and all of your synced logbook data. This cannot be undone.
River flow comes from USGS Water Services, and sky, temperature, and precipitation come from the National Weather Service. The hatch list is a regional, date-aware calendar — a starting point, not a live reading of what's on the water.
It uses your approximate location only to pick the closest of our rivers. Your location is never stored or shared, and the feature is optional — you can deny the prompt and pick a river manually.
Conditions come straight from public USGS and NWS feeds; occasionally a gauge or station is offline or reporting gaps. Try again later, or email us and we'll look into it.
